Week 59: Service

September 25, 2017

This week was great! We are having a lot of fun and finding a lot of new people to teach. Elder Talanoa and Elder Lewis are awesome missionaries and being on bikes with them has been good, it is going by so fast!

So this week we started a couple new service projects that are way fun! We do service now a the homeless shelter and cook lunch for them one day and then we go to a food bank the next day and help set that up. It is fun to be able to serve with some great people. One guy that shows us how to cook is named Afam and he is so cool! He asks us lots of questions about our religion as well and we were able to give him a Book of Mormon. We also helped out a lady this week by chopping a bunch of her wood. Definitely a good week for service!

Also so funny story: so the sisters were talking to their Ward Mission Leader about Willy and he thought he had already been baptized in Manassa years ago. So he looked it up and he was totally baptized haha so don't really know what happened there because we talked to Willy and asked him about when he had met with missionaries before and he said it just wasn't the right time for him to get baptized. So we will talk to him about it this week haha.

Anyways hope everyone will have a wonderful week!

Elder Morgan

Week 58: Training New Missionaries

September 18, 2017

This was was pretty great! Started off on Tuesday driving up to Springs to get some new missionaries! We have had a successful week and it makes me feel like I am going home soon being with new missionaries. My testimony has grown a lot this week though and we have seen a lot of miracles.

So one Tuesday, I drove up with Elder Davies to Springs. Elder Davies is a missionary from England who I have served around for a while and he was going home! It was good to be able to catch up with him and see what he had learned from his 2 years here in the mission. We then got to Springs and had a couple hours of meetings and lunch and then we found out who we were training. My new companions names are Elders Lewis and Talanoa. They are super cool guys and we are having fun! Elder Lewis is from Hawaii and Elder Talanoa is from Tonga, it is fun being with them.

It is way fun because we get to be on bikes! That is the best because you get to talk to so many more people and it feels good to bike around. Definitely feel like a real missionary when I am on the bikes.

One thing I definitely gained a testimony of is talking with everyone. It is so much easier on bike and it was so cool because we found 9 new people to teach this week and 7 or 8 of those were from just talking to people on the way to appointments.

An awesome miracle that happened this week was finding someone who was super prepared. His name is Willy and we were on our way to do some service at a food bank and saw him and he said he wanted to learn more. So the next day we went over and had an awesome lesson with him and he committed to be baptized mid October, super cool!

Other than that I am just loving being out here. It is crazy to me how quick it goes by, it seems like yesterday that I just here into the mission. Anyways hope everyone will have a good week!

Week 57: Thirteen Months!

September 11, 2017

This week was awesome! I am loving the work down here in the Valley and it is so fun! This week we had MLC and some awesome lessons and transfers came up!

So right now we are covering 2 wards but with transfers happening, I will be covering one of the wards and training 2 new missionaries, I am so excited! We will be in the Alamosa 2nd ward and fortunately not moving housing haha. We will also be riding bikes and I am really excited for that. So I will go up to Springs tomorrow and pick up my new companions! Being in a trio again is also a dream come true, trios are the bomb!

MLC was also great! It was my last one so that was cool. President Stevenson is just awesome. We decided that as a mission we will set a goal for 35 baptisms this next transfer and I know the Lord will provide if all the missionaries strive to obtain! I will miss going up there for that meeting because I got to see so many great missionaries but it is good to be done with that too.

We had a great lesson with Lynn this week! We were finally able to meet again! We taught her about the Plan of Salvation and I think it went really well. Lynn's daughter passed away a few years ago so I think it was a good lesson for her. The spirit was definitely there to testify.

Also good this week because we stopped by these people that we ran into a few weeks ago and they weren't too interested but we came by and they had their grandson their and he sat in for a lesson and he wanted to learn more! His name is Frank and I am excite to start teaching him more.

Alright, last awesome lesson this week was with Nathan and Sara. We have been trying to meet with them for a while and finally got to. Nathan isn't a member but Sara is and we had a great lesson with them. Nathan committed to be baptized in October so that is awesome!

It was a great week though and I am happy to be serving here. This is the Lord's work and He provides a way for the faithful and obedient!

Week 56: The work continues on

September 4, 2017

Well this has been a really fun week! We went on a gnarly hike, had interviews, went to some lessons with President Stevenson, went on exchanges in Del Norte, the work started really picking up and I got a sweet new plant!

So the hike we went on was to Zapata Lake. We had tried to do it a couple weeks ago but didn't make it so we started pretty early last Monday and got to the lake! It was 10 miles round trip and really steep. The hike started at 11000 ft! It was pretty dang tiring but a really pretty hike.

Interviews went really well. President Stevenson and his wife are just awesome, love them to death! President Stevenson then came to a couple lessons with us in the evening and they went really well. we taught Doyle and it was a really spiritual lesson where we talked about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and then read Moroni chapter 10 with him. Then we went to Brian and Teresa's house and read the Book of Mormon with them and the spirit was strong there as well.

Going on exchanges in Del Norte was super fun! I went with Elder Madsen to Del Norte. Elder Madsen is one of my favorite missionaries and he is going home in a week! He is pretty excited to be home haha. Del Norte is a cool area that is really pretty. We had a lesson with a guy named David that went really well. David got really into the Book of Mormon, it was so cool! After the lesson we were talking about all the plants he had in his house and he gave me this way awesome little jade plant! Definitely made my week because a couple months ago I had the flowers I planted outside and someone stole them, who does that?! So that was pretty neat.

It was also a great week because we found 7 new people to teach this week! We found 2 people that seem pretty interested and then a family that is awesome! So that was good, hopefully it keeps up.

Well it was a great week and I am just loving the missionary life, super cool. anyways hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Elder Morgan
