Week 85: Come in....Go away...

March 26, 2018

Hello everyone! This was another great week, loving it here in Falcon. This week we had a lot of people want to stop meeting with us which is too bad, but I'm sure they will come around someday. We were able to meet with Landon again and we did lots of service this week. Also transfers are coming up in a couple weeks and I may possibly leave Falcon so definitely trying to find some more people before transfer day!

We started off the week with some good old fashioned tracting and had some funny experiences! First one was when I knocked on this door and a kid yelled through the door "who is it?" I said "we're missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." He opens up and his mom starts walking over so I say hello and ask how she is doing, she replies "not good, what did you just say to my son when he asked who it was?" So I repeated what I had just said and she says in a very angry tone "disrespectful!"  and slams the door. Reading that you are probably just as confused as I was. So my companions and I walk away laughing and very confused.

Next, about 5 minutes later we ring the door bell to this house that has its door open and a lady tells us to come in so we open the door and step in and this lady gets pretty scared and asks who we are so we tell her and apparently she was going to be showing this house to a possible renter and was definitely not expecting us haha. So she had us go away pretty quickly.

Then a little later in the week we were trying to set up a lesson to teach Landon and they just tell us to come over then and help clean their house so we go and help clean their house up for a little bit and then get to teach Landon and talk with his parents and set a new goal for him to be baptized. So that was pretty cool and but then they still didn't show up for church! We will get them there one of these Sundays.

Other than that we just did lots of service. Along with cleaning the house up, we helped at a food bank (we go every Thursday) and then we do service at the library on Tuesdays. Then we went up to Black Forest to move some wood. Black Forest is awesome because it is so different from Falcon. Falcon is real flat and not too many trees around whereas Black Forest has so many trees everywhere, really pretty up there.

So it was a pretty great week and I am loving it out here and I grow in my faith in Christ everyday, good times! Hope everyone enjoys Conference, I'm excited to hear from our new Prophet!

Love,
Elder Morgan

A family who feeds our district lunch every other Friday after district meeting, they are super cool!

Week 84: I think he wants to be my boyfriend!

March 19, 2018

Well another great week! We had lots of meetings this week with a zone conference, new missionary training meeting and a stake meeting, whew that's a lot of meetings! We also had an awesome lesson with Vera and her kids and they came to church.

So we started off the week with a zone conference and it was awesome! President taught us about becoming better teachers and I got a lot out of it. It was good to see a lot of fun missionaries as well. Elders Lewis and Talanoa are both in my zone now since transfers and it was so good to see them and catch up on the good old Alamosa days.

Elders Lewis and Talanoa
We had a lesson with Vera (this is the actual way you spell it, final answer) that night and we read with her and her 2 kids 2 Nephi 31 out of the Book of Mormon. It went really well and talking about the Doctrine of Christ is always a great lesson. One of her kids who is 9 is so smart it amazes me haha, he was asking questions that and sharing insights that most youth can't. But then she and her kids came to church and that was awesome. Hopefully we will continue to have progress with them.

We had a training meeting for the missionaries that are in training and we talked about the fundamentals of our missionary purpose and how we can stay focused on the fundamentals. It was a great meeting!

It was so funny this week because  at church yesterday we were sitting outside the chapel and this primary class was going around giving out cookies and singing I am a Child of God (so cute). So they sing to us and give us a cookie and then this little 3 or 4 year old girl turns to her teacher, points at me and says "He was looking at me, I think he likes me...I think he wants to be my boyfriend" hahaha I was laughing pretty hard!

Anyways it was a great week and I am loving it out here, the gospel of Jesus Christ is awesome!

Week 83: 19 Months!

March 12, 2018

This was a jam packed week of awesomeness! Started off with some really funny tracting and running into an old family friend! We did some fun service and had some good lessons with people. Finally finished it off great by going to the temple with Kyle and Ahrianna Taylor so they could receive their endowments and be sealed!

So early in the week we were knocking door and this lady opens up and is dressed in not enough clothes and is probably in her 70's. So Elder Yesilonis and I are already trying not to laugh as Elder McCombs talks to her about the Book of Mormon. Elder McCombs asks if he can share a scripture but can't find the one he was looking for so he opens randomly to 3 Nephi 25:1 where Jesus is quoting Malachi about how the proud and the wicked will be burned in the last days. So Elder Yeislonis and I just start laughing and the lady says that he could have shared a more uplifting one but still accepts a copy of the Book of Mormon! Good times.

But then about an hour later, we knock on this door and a lady opens up and immediately says, "I know your family!" It turns out she had moved from Fair Oaks about 5 years ago and was friends with my family and my grandpa was her bishop! So we talked for a while and it was so neat how that happened. A morning or two before that I had read Elder Rasband's talk on Divine Design and it strengthened my testimony that God is in the details of our lives! Even cooler was that night at a Chinese restaurant, I got a fortune cookie that said "A chance meeting with someone from your past is in store!!!!" A day late but still so funny!

Friends from California!

We had an awesome lesson with Viera (been spelling her name wrong until now). She is the lady from the Czech Republic. She has had a few concerns and teaching her about repentance helped to overcome some of them! Her kids really like us so we are having another lesson this week and hopefully we will be able to help her progress!

We are still teaching Landon who is an unbaptized 9yr old but his family has a hard time coming to church!

The best part of the week was being able to go up to Denver with Kyle and Ahrianna! They are so cool and it was so awesome to see them in the temple! Kyle just started crying after it all and that just made everything worth it!

The Temple with Kyle and Ahrianna!

Things are good though and I am loving the work our here! Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Week 82: Knock, Knock

March 3, 2018

This was a great week! We knocked on lots of doors, had not too many lessons but found a few new less active people to teach and it was just all around a good time.

We have had a lot of people stop meeting with us which is too bad but good because we have more time to find people! The weather has been awesome, which makes knocking doors and talking to people outside a lot more fun! We have knocked all the doors in the suburb part of Falcon a couple times so we have started going out into the more rural parts and that is fun but a lot more walking between houses.

During the evening we have been going by people on the ward list that we haven't met and introducing ourselves and it has been a lot of fun. We hae met some funny people like the Smiths! They are an older couple who had us come in and talked a whole lot, I don't think we said a single thing haha.

Also Dinah is not sick anymore!! ....But she is moving haha so that is a bummer but she still wants to come to church and she wants to be baptized so that is awesome! She is moving further into Springs so we will let the other missionaries know when she gets there.

Other than that not too much is going on, we are trying to think of new ways to find people to teach here. Also Kyle and Ahrianna are going to the temple on Saturday and I get to go with them so that will be so cool!

Anyways thanks for all the love and prayers and hope everyone is doing so well!

Elder Morgan
